Seven Grand (Los Angeles - Downtown)

StarStarStarStar½

I’ve come to wet my whistle here a couple of times now.  While I
haven’t had more than a handful of drinks to consume, the cocktails
that I did try have all been very good, to say the least.

Pros:  COCKTAILS are crafted very well – AS EXPECTED.  The least
of my favorites, is the Mint Julep (but even that is good).  Try the
RYE FIX with muddled Raspberries.  I really enjoyed this
cocktail and I love the "Raspado-like" Ice texture they achieve
with their Kold Draft Ice Contraption.

BEER –  selection is good-to-go as well.  I gotta say, I’m kinda
surprised to see so many people drinking beer though.  I’m a
beer drinker myself, but when I’m surrounded by Masterful
Mixologists, I’m treating myself to their craft.  I mean,  would
you dine at a beachfront restaurant, and given the option of
sitting outside – with nothing but the sand and water in front of
you – decline that to sit indoors on a warm summer’s
day??  "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade,"
right?  I’m just saying; If you’re at Seven Grand, take advantage
of these bartenders and put them to use.

PARKING – Directly across the street 2 lots behind Bottega
Louie.  Every time I’ve parked there, on weekends, the rate
            has been $3 flat.

Balcony & Pool Table –  Although the 2 tables are typically  in
use, I’ve managed to play a few games.  The balcony is cool
as well and if you’re a smoker, feel free to have at it.

Cons:  LOCATION – 7th & Grand – enough said.  Could be worse, I
suppose; but I wouldn’t have my girlfriend come down at night
alone to meet me here though.  Either way, the location is not
enough to detract me from coming back.  Honestly, I’m just
nit-picking now.  If  "Location" is the only thing I can muster up
to throw dirt at the place, you know you’re in for a good time
            here.

So why not rate Seven Grand a 5?  Because Copa D’ Oro is a 5 and they have a humongous cocktail menu for you to choose from, if you aren’t keen to the bounty of cocktails that exist.  Seven Grand
has a few leaflets laying around with maybe 6 cocktails on them for you to choose from.  The other list you’ll come across at Seven Grand is an extended list of Whiskey, Bourbon & Rye that they offer.  Additionally, Copa D’ Oro has servers come around to take your order, if you don’t want to order at the bar.  Not so, at Seven Grand.

I’m not saying Seven Grand Sucks.  By no means am I saying that.  I don’t have a problem with the place at all.  I dig Seven Grand a lot!  I just think Seven Grand can do a little bit here and a little bit there…to accommodate the throngs of people it brings in. Til then, 4.5 stars!!
