El Dorado Cocktail Lounge (San Diego)

StarStarStarStar½

I came down from Los Angeles and was not disappointed with my visit here.  I Yelped a few spots for drinks beforehand and the reviews for this bar were spot-on.  It’s a pretty cool bar.  Not pretentious at all with a good vibe as well.

I tried the Honeysuckle, Moscow Mule, Blood and Sand & 1 Bartender’s Choice.  The drinks were
better than average with my favorite here being the Moscow Mule.

The beer selection is very good too.  I just wish they had more on tap versus bottled and canned.

A fair amount of Rye, Whiskey and Bourbon can be had here as well.  If you are into these spirits and find yourself in Los Angeles, Seven Grand  is the place for you.  Hey, I figure if you all did me right with your appraisal of this place, the least I could do is steer you right when you venture up the 5.  But I digress…

I had a nice time and I wish I could have lingered longer because I was digging the James Brown, Jay Dilla, MF Doom, Pharcyde & Breaks-set that the DJ was spinning but I had to exit before I consumed too many drinks and ended up sprawled on the floor of some city street in a pool of my own…

Anyhow, If I were a local I’d become somewhat of a regular, but seeing as I’m not, the least I can do is recommend the place.  Any way you cut it, business will be fine with or without my visits or endorsements.  Thanks for the good time, Ole Golden One!
