Tony’s Saloon (Los Angeles – Arts District)

StarStarStarStar

Are you in love with certain bars but hate dealing with the herds of people trying to get in? Abhor having to wait for what seems like an eternity just to get the Bartender's attention to order a drink?  If you're anything like me, the answer from time to time is, YES.

Yes, Seven Grand, I know how jam-packed you can get after a certain hour.  As for The Edison, you're so hip that I can't even get inside you on some occasions.  The point is, if you want to go to a good bar and not have to wait in line outside or wait a long while to order a drink, this is the perfect place for you.

Parking is a cinch too -  free in their private lot.  I came in on a Friday night, a little after 11pm and 3 booths were vacant (I think they have a total of 5 or 6).  Better yet, the [only] pool table was open.  Games are $1 and it accepts bills or coins.  And yes, they have a Ping Pong table outside.  I didn't get to play...maybe next time.  I understand they also have a Dart Board.  I completely missed that.  I will have to give that a go next time as well.

Anyhow, I only tried an Old Fashioned and a Sidecar.  Both were stiff as expected.  I'll come back and try some Mezcal cocktails next time.  They have some brews on tap but I failed to catch what they have to offer.  I really didn't do my homework this time, I know.  But I do know that they have a daily Happy Hour from 8-10pm.  Then again, I don't know exactly what that entails. :-(   Oh well, all the more reason to return.
