The Falls (Los Angeles – Downtown)

No drink menu as of yet but one is definitely in the works, according to the head bartender.  I'd expect one in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

For the time being, they DO have 4 cocktails worked out that eventually will be on the menu once it is printed and made available.

The bourbon based drink is "The Brown Derby."  It is made with buffalo trace, grapefruit juice and honey syrup. The tequila based drink is "The Horseshoe."  This cocktail is made with jimador blanco, lime juice, agave nectar, ginger beer and muddled sage leaves.

One of the gin based drinks is the "Rustic."  It is made with gin, grapefruit juice and agave nectar.  The last of the foursome is "Satan's Whiskers."  I did not get to try this one but it too is made with gin and rounded out with vermouth, cointreau and fresh orange juice.

My favorite of the 3 was "The Horseshoe" but it was devoid of any sage flavor.  "The Rustic" was good too but a tad bitter - refreshing, nonetheless. "The Brown Derby" kinda disappointed. The drink was stiff, maybe too stiff (for this cocktail).  I've had this drink a few times before and this one wasn't rounded out by the honey syrup. - 3.5 stars overall,  for the cocktails.

As far as beer goes, they have 6 on tap and offer 6 more bottled.

I'm not really one to talk about decor unless it is really striking or hideous, but what I saw here, I liked.  East and west facing walls will remind you of a log cabin as the walls are essentially made using the cross-section of protruding lumberjack-type logs.  North and south facing walls are dissimilar and more Hollywood glitz and glam to match their crystal chandeliers.  The table tops match this part of the decor but upon further inspection, the table legs match the log cabin walls as the legs of the tables are actually tree trunks.  Very quirky indeed. - 5 stars

I enjoyed my visit here.  The bartender was friendly and the vibe was cool.  I will come back when they fully iron out the kinks and put together their menu.  Any bar that I can go to and hear Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Queen and Aerosmith playing in the background, is A-Okay with me.

And for those of you bitching and whining about the '70's music and  clamoring for "Top 40 Hits," you have a dozen more options for that baloney on the very same street this bar is on, so go there for your Lady Caca/Nicki Minaj/Justin Bieber/Eminem/Rihanna fix or GET OVER YOURSELVES!

I'd give this place a 4, but at 12 bucks a pop per cocktail (with the Varnish around the block) and no menu yet, I'll give them a 3.5 til I re-visit them.
