Las Perlas (Los Angeles – Downtown)

I'm gonna have to play around with my camera some more because the photographs I keep taking at Las Perlas are just killing me.

Anyway, one of our very last stops on Cinco de Mayo was at this bar.  It had to be, right?  Well, these guys know how to party - especially on holidays - and Cinco de Mayo was no exception.

The place was bustling with people, the music was bumpin', the drinks were pouring and on this night, they even had a taquero doing his thing out on the patio.  Typically, I don't like to visit bars when they are this busy but I didn't mind this time.  And when a few spots at the bar became available next to our favorite bartender...well, I was all the more pleased.
If you ever visit the bar, be sure to say hello to Noel and tell em I sent you.  From the doormen to Raul, Ryan, Julio, Cesar & Carlos...all of these dudes are hospitable and eager to make your experience a fun one.

I started off with their drink special, Las Perlas Margarita.  Simplicity at its finest and at $5, a steal!

The Cinco de Mayo Menu.

For my last drink, I decided to get something I have never ordered here - a beer.  Say what?!  Ya, a beer.  But not just any beer!  One of the beers we have on tap at work is Hercules Double IPA from Great Divide Brewing Co.  For $8 you get a 10 ounce pour with enough room for head.  Here, $6 got me a larger pour of this fantastic beer.  Then again, I get 50% off at work so I' m not actually getting a better deal here.  Still, this is a damn good deal!  Jessie ordered a crisp and refreshing Paloma.

Having tried every cocktail on the menu at least a few times, I wouldn't mind coming back to try some more craft beer.

Lastly, I mentioned my favorite bartender earlier...check out his band, Noel Carlon, here.  I especially like Insecure.  And if you dig the music, support the man and get his tunes here.
