Samael's Oak Aged Ale

I love...absolutely love barrel-aged beer.

Avery Brewing's Samael's might have tested my limits, however.

This should have warned me of what was to come.

Or maybe the fact that it was about 15.5% ABV.  We're talking about beer, people.  Beer!

Well, this little bottle packed a brutal punch.  Mostly, caramel, molasses, malt and a ton of oak.  Perhaps too much oak. It was boozy as expected but the oak dominated.  All that aside, I wouldn't mind having this again and I'll certainly try out next year's bottling.  I just hope the beer will be brewed with better balance.
