Garage Pizza (Los Angeles - Downtown)

Half Garage/Half Gran Torino.

The Full Menu.

A slice of the Gran Torino.

So far, this is my least favorite pizza joint in downtown.  I'm sure there are others in the immediate vicinity that I'd like less, but from the ones I wanted to try, I found this one to be inferior to Pizzanista, Xlixe & Pitfire.  The Garage pizza is basically a pie with hamburger toppings.  I thought it was bland and the pickles were barely pickled.  I'd hate to eat the burger they tried to mimic with this pizza.  The Gran Torino, on the other hand, was pretty good.  This is a souped up Margherita with added pesto, Parmesan and toasted pine nuts.  I especially enjoyed the crunch that the nuts provided.  I thought that was a nice touch.  That aside, the overall list of toppings didn't excite me.  They have average run of the mill ones.  So, if you want a plain slice of cheese or pepperoni, I can see this place being adequate.  If you want creativity with gourmet toppings, you'd be better served going elsewhere.
