Zengo (Santa Monica)



An addendum to the cocktail list.

Lagunitas IPA.

The main reason I keep returning - Edamame, XO Style.

Although, it's my second favorite dish here (the Hanger Steak is tops), it came out a little salty and overcooked.  Tisk tisk tisk.


Ceviche Dorado.

Chinese Long Beans with Mushrooms.

Xingu's Black Beer.  

I was surprised to find that Brasil makes such a thing.  It's not exactly a stout or porter.  The only similarity is the color, head and chocolate/coffee notes.  This black beer is actually quite light with little carbonation.  Interesting but enjoyable.

 Crunchy Calamari Salad. 

I had this before and didn't really care for it.  This time around, I did.  Go figure!  Good pick, Lilly.  Good pick.

Cusqueña Premium Malt Lager.

I'm not sure what roll we got but it was decent.

Pork Belly Steamed Buns.

A look at the patio outside.  

If you ever eat here, make a reservation for the patio overlooking the promenade.  Good stuff.
