The Varnish (Los Angeles - Downtown)

Cole's vs Philippe's is a no-brainer for me.  When Philippe's gets 2 dope bars inside, maybe then you can try to persuade me.

Kidding aside, we meant to come here to take advantage of their Halloween treats but after mixed success at the other 213 bars, we made a bee-line straight to Varnish.

I can't believe after all of my drinking escapades, that I still have so many more classic cocktails to try.  On this visit, I ordered a Ramos Gin Fizz (gin, lemon, lime, cream, simple syrup, orange flower water) .  I'm glad I did.  I'll order this one again.  Some classic cocktails I try once and cross off my list, never to order again.  That will not be the case with this libation.

In all of the times I have visited this bar, not once have I ordered anything of the menu.  I vow to finally do that on my next visit.  Promise.

Jessie has been curious to try some classics as well.  He ordered a Brandy Alexander (cognac, creme de cacao, cream, grated nutmeg).
