Why am I rating something I made, you ask? Simply put, it's not my recipe. I'm rating the recipe. I highly recommend it especially with these darn chilly nights we have been having. Bbbrrrr!! =)
I was going through my daily food and alcohol blogs/newsletters yesterday when I came across a simple yet delicious drink from one of my favorite bartenders (yes, I have favorite bartenders. Some people have favorite baseball players, favorite actors, favorite singers...I happen to have favorite bartenders. hahah)
I had made hot buttered rum before but this recipe was a snap to put together so I went for it. Talk about easy. Honey, hot water, butter and aged rum (aged rum, not dark rum. They are not the same and most dark rums are vile so i wouldn't recommend interchanging the two - ever).
It's as simple as...
Traditional Hot Buttered Rum
Recipe courtesy Marcos Tello and Peter Lloyd Jones, 1886 Bar
3/4 oz honey (about 1 tablespoon)
1 1/2 oz aged rum
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Hot water
Stir the honey and rum together in a heated Hot Toddy glass or coffee mug. Add the butter and top with hot water to taste.
