Gastronomico (Los Angeles - Griffith Park/Los Feliz)

While all this may hold true, don't expect it at their brick and mortar location.

You see, a few weeks ago, they officially closed their doors for the very last time.

Luckily, for those of you that enjoyed their grub as much as I did, you can still find them doing their thing at the Farmer's Market on 3rd and Fairfax.  Just look out for the Gastrobus!

And if you go, order up this beauty.  It's an organic turkey burger with avocado, bacon, arugula and balsamic onion jam.  I haven't eaten too many turkey burgers but this was easily the best turkey burger I've far.  Don't worry about where the beef is.  You won't miss it at all.

Pair it with some crispy Yukon Golds and you'll be sitting pretty.  These spuds were perfectly fried.  Who needs fries when you can nosh on these?!

What to expect from the Gastrobus - but probably not every day, so check their media pages.

Ecuadorian Pulled Pork Sandwich - This is another mainstay on their menu.  Good flavor I thought, but could have used more aioli or sauce.  Also, the bread was so-so.

Fried cauliflower - Another simple yet delicious side.  The preserved lemon aioli lended the dish the needed acidity to round it out.

Everything was really good thus far, so we ordered a couple of desserts as well.  Why the hell not, right?

We put in an order of ricotta donut holes and they were decent.  I was mostly put off by  the accompanying strawberry sauce though.  It had the consistency of phle... I'll stop there.

The better of the desserts was this upside down banana chocolate cake.  It was a little rich but plenty moist.

I get a little sad when I see places I've gone to, and enjoyed, go out of business.  It's a shame, especially since I hadn't even gotten around to blogging about it.  I visited their restaurant 5 months ago and I'm barely getting around to "getting the word out."  Shame on me, I know.  But who am I kidding?  Nobody reads my blog.  Nobody refers to my page to make dining plans.  hahaha So I take solace in the fact that, even if I wanted  these guys to remain in business, I wouldn't have had any effect.  Guy Fieri, on the other hand...  Oh well, there's always the gastrobus!
